The release of documents about Jeffrey Epstein has recently fueled public anger and disbelief, because the eagerly awaited full disclosure lacked the expected mantle of completeness. AG Pamela Bondi had made a commitment to a full release of the Epstein-related files, but the documents released on February 27, 2025, consisted largely of previously known records and elicited widespread disappointment.

Released materials included flight logs from Epstein's own plane and his (so-called) "black book", both of which had been previously leaked or public in prior investigations. Notably, the contact list featured prominent figures such as Michael Jackson, Alec Baldwin, Naomi Campbell, Mick Jagger, Prince Andrew, the late Ethel Kennedy, and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Nonetheless, those terms had previously been linked to Epstein in previous reports and none of those people have been charged with crimes concerning the Epstein case.
The "MASSEUSES" Roster and Public Reaction
Release also provided a heavily redacted, 254-entry "MASSEUSES" roster, all names redacted to avoid possible identification of victims, that was public but with no supporting public information. However (and this deserves qualification), the absence of new information unfortunately led to a sense of disappointment in the general public and right-wing commentators, of who had anticipated to witness dramatic revelations.
Public Backlash and AG Bondiâs Accusations
Following the backlash, Attorney General Bondi has accused the FBI of having stifled crucial investigative documents and initiated an investigation to address the matter. She directed that the balance documents be turned over to the FBI and the Southern District of New York and directed that FBI Director Kash Patel direct the completion of the incomplete document turnover.
Late-night Host Jimmy Kimmel's Critique
Release document management has also been targeted by public dignitaries. Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel questioned the administration's mismanagement, evidencing that the documents were released to right-wing celebrities rather than to the general population, raising the debate as to openness and on what grounds the documents were released.
General Public Sentiment and Increased Suspicion
On a general level, the release of the Epstein files has been greeted with general discouragement and has resulted in even higher levels of public suspicion directed at the opaqueness of the investigation. Absence of any new information and related insinuations of preprocessed information have exacerbated disillusionment about the behavior of the Epstein case and its relation to influential figures.
