On March 20, 2025, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. European time, active shooter incidents were cited to be happening around Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, Michigan. With the conclusion of active training being conducted at the hospital, aggressive reactions and mobilization from law enforcement agencies began even while the suspect was still on the run.
Chronology of Events- Near Noon
Gunshots were reported just after 0800 hours from the hospital; the responding officer from Troy Police, who also went into the hospital, confirmed that the gunfire came from the hospital and declared this a one-party incident. Some investigations had already begun at this stage but hot pursuit of the fleeing suspect still did not discontinue.
Response and Lockdown
Immediate action was effected according to the lockdown policy of the environment for this particular hospital to secure patients, the staff, and all visitors. The emergency alerting system was activated for all those community members within proximity of the area, instructing them to avoid the area and shelter in place. ATF and other federal law enforcement were also on the scene in short order to secure the area and search for the shooter.
Victims of the Hospital and Statements
One patient who had sustained gunshot wounds from the incident is still being treated in the emergency room. Nothing about the severity and type of being a victim has been made available for public disclosure. Cornwell Health put out a holding statement about the incident and lockdown protocol, which sought to inform other patients with scheduled services not to come to the hospital.
Witnesses Testimony
While the statements are being given by hospital workers and patients, Barbara, a medical assistant at the hospital, says everything was pure chaos as she walked in. By then, her colleagues had raised the alarm of an active shooter and police were closing in on the parking structure. My heart just sank because I knew things were only going to get worse for my co-workers, and mostly, my thoughts were with my patients.
Community Impact
Some tremors are running deep into the community. The Troy School District further elevated the Security Level as a red flag to give parents and staff thoughts on the safety and security of the different schools in the area. Citizens also encourage vigilance and following whatever direction is given by law enforcement about an ongoing investigation that is mainly focusing on a suspect hunt.
Investigations Underway
The detectives have not at any time suspended their chase after the suspect. Investigative agencies were searching through the hospital and adjoining grounds for the fugitive. The motive behind the shooting is unknown as well. Authorities are asking anyone with any information regarding these cases to please step forward.

Cops have advised residents surrounding the Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital to remain indoors and avoid the area. Meanwhile, the hospital is secured and nearby residents with pre-scheduled appointments may contact their department. Law enforcement authorities assure that they will do whatever must be done to solve this case while protecting the community in the process.
This indeed reflects preparedness and timely response by law enforcement departments in dealing with incidents of active shooters, all in respect and cooperation with the public as far as safety measures post-investigation are concerned.
