When we meet someone, they have this urge to read you via nonverbal communication through your body language. Yes, even if you don't believe or like to be read still there will be plenty of people reading you around.
It is fascinating yet disparaging but if you get to differentiate between some alarming negative body signals and positive body signals, it will do no bad. And keeping in check your body language will help you to control the personal information you are providing.
Surveying the place
When you meet some friend or a new group of friends, do not look around too much. It will be disrespectful to all of them and more to them who have brought you there to meet.
Scrolling your phone
If you have gone to gather for a meetup or any social bunch up, just stay away from your phone and pay attention to what people are saying. Because they have put their time into it which is much more important to everyone.
Poor Body Postures
Be it an interview or a networking program your body posture says a lot before you open your mouth. Slumpy shoulders talk about your disinterest and of course that you yield. What are you saying is credible or not, do you lack confidence, and can you be given a new responsibility, everything can be a good posture away.
Clumsiness
A lot of people are fighting this. Although people adapt to different communication signals, this needs to be taken care of first. Try practicing in front of the mirror, and use objects while speaking and explaining to others. It makes you look more confident and capable. Next time when you attend a lecture, make sure you have used all the necessary objects available there with confident eye contact.
Tip- Avoid too much blinking.
'Causing discomfort' body postures
It has many variations, clicking fingers, scratching near thighs, or covering your crotch while standing makes people uncomfortable. They lose interest in listening to you and start to create funny stories in their heads based on the script you give them.
