My Partner asked for Postpartum sex and I didn't Like it

Sex after long months of pregnancy can leave many couples in dilemma and self-doubts. Experts have advised parents to wait at least 6 weeks after giving birth to the baby. Questions like What would it be like? Will the excitement be the same? Is it only me or does every woman gets to face it after delivery? It is okay to feel this way.

This shouldn't be so shocking to everyone after what a woman goes through while giving birth to a baby, be it C-section or natural birth.

Before you sink in your head thinking too much, let's try to understand what are the requirements and cautions that will bring the spark again in your postpartum sex life.

How soon you should have Intercourse

What your Dr is saying is not necessarily the fixed Dos and Don'ts that you should be strictly following. Let's say you are advised to not have penetrative intercourse until six weeks following pregnancy then it doesn't mean that you have to try immediately to regain the previous sexual pleasures. Talk to your partner and tell him to wait until the discomfort goes away.

Give your body time to heal

Managing with low sex drive and a drop in estrogen along with breastfeeding your baby takes a lot from you. And trust me you don't even want to think about having sex during this phase, this is completely normal. Because your body demands proper rest and healing and your mind needs to be drawn out of the pregnancy trauma, so you shouldn't be worrying.

Don't be just Roommates

While you two are waiting for the right time to engage in sexual activity, you shouldn't be ignoring romantic talks in order to re-establish your interest. Basically, don't be just roommates, talk about the older days and how you two were happy to know you are soon going to be parents.

Use lubricants when ready

When your mind and body will allow you to reunite with your partner, it may still feel strange or disconnected but you should not worry about it because you are going to like it again. But to avoid discomfort in your vagina due to dryness use natural lubricants. It is still okay if you don't like it, take your time.
