Sometimes the hardest effort we have to make is forgiving ourselves. Holding yourself to a strict and regulated standard and expecting not to commit mistakes is possibly not a way humans are made for. What we can do is, make mistakes, learn from them, and move on. Forgiving others for the same mistakes seems easier than forgiving yourself, but if we pay attention to our behavior and understand the unhealthy situations in which mistakes were made, it will help us to assess better. Read on to give yourself another chance at the healthy life you deserve.
Face and Accept
If you have made a mistake and it hurt someone, face it. Do not hide behind unnecessary excuses, be courageous and take responsibility.
The first step towards healing yourself is accepting the harsh reality.
Check with Yourself
The second step toward forgiving should be getting to know your heart.
Knowing the reason behind your mistake and dealing with the triggers is an important help only you can provide to yourself. Trust me, once you are done dealing with it, things will become less difficult.
Mistakes are part of life
As mentioned in the introduction, humans can not avoid making mistakes. Accept that you are not perfect and ease your mental state of mind.
Let your emotions out
It is totally normal to feel guilty or shame for what you have done but what is not okay is beating yourself up for a long time. It will snatch away your peace and you will find it hard to rise again. Therefore, suppressing emotions is the next step you have to avoid.
Do not repeat
What has caused you to make the error, stay away from that negativity. If it is in your head, practice meditation. Seek external help if struggling. Do not blame yourself, again and again, act maturely.
Regain â Rearrange â Refocus
Regain your willpower, rearrange your tasks and then refocus on your priorities. Committing terrible mistakes leaves you unfocused on the upcoming important things. You lose your momentum and it takes time to gain it back, but it is certainly not the hardest step to reach.
