The sequel for which fans are most eager, Another Simple Favor, pans out at the 2025 South by Southwest (SXSW) Film & TV Festival, bringing together stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively under tumultuous speculation accompanied by gossip and legal drama.
The movie takes the direction of Paul Feig and carries on the blackly humorous tale of its audience that it met with in its predecessor in 2018, called A Simple Favor.

"Another Simple Favor" sets out five years after the original. During this time, Anna Kendrick returns as Stephanie Smothers, author, and busy single mom, while Blake Lively reprises her role as the mysterious Emily Nelson. The scene is set in Italy on the breathtaking island of Capri, where a murder interrupts Emily's ostentatious wedding to Italian businessman Dante Versano, played by Michele Morrone.
The cast also includes Henry Golding as Sean Townsend, Emily's former husband, as well as new entrants Elena Sofia Ricci, Elizabeth Perkins, Alex Newell, and Allison Janney, all of whom add flavor to the storyline.

In turn, Baldoni slammed his own $400 million lawsuit against her and charged her for defamation and extortion.
This legal battle has, in fact, reduced space for public appearances of Lively and made this event at SXSW her major event participation since the public news broke.
Director's Support During the Controversy
Amid the ongoing controversies, director Paul Feig backed Lively with all his might at the festival. He acknowledged her not just for her professionalism but also the collaborative spirit that defined the shoot. Endorsement by Feig was meant to drag the attention of the drama, surrounding it, back to the art in the making.
The Audience and Some Highlights
The premiere drew an audience gasp or two with Emily's more or less venomous threat of legal action against Stephanie-an especially resonant point, given Lively's own entirely real-life lawyerly matters at press time. This added another punch of meta-reference, prompting audible gasps and murmurs from viewers. Critics have heaped praise on the film for having so many different twists in its story and the active performances they have given in the lead roles, going on to describe Lively's image of Emily as captivating and unpredictable as always.
