Things You should never be saying to Your Younger Brother

Brothers who stand by their sisters are the sweetest and coolest. They always remind you that you are not alone in this cruel world. In a world where it is hard to trust an individual, your sweet younger brother holds the possibility of a better world on his shoulder. In India where sons are taught to control the women of the family, if you have a brother who supports you and looks up to you, it indeed comes under privileges. Because many women suffer from the dominance of men in their families and spend their whole lives depending on them. This also brings a new repercussion of boys being generalized as evil and so does your brother.

Do not let your brother feel the same at least inside your house, so try avoiding using these things saying to him:

All men are the same

If a friend or batchmate of your brother did something terrible to a girl then do not yell at your brother telling all men are the same or You must have been involved in this too. Things like these hurt them to the core and gradually they start believing in such stereotypes.

You are never gonna understand how we feel

When you say this to your younger brother, trust me they feel helpless and guilty that he can't help you because no one would ever trust them. When you say this, they doubt their roles in this world before even learning it turns into a better place.

Your opinion doesn't matter because you are a boy

Another one. You must have witnessed your family members stopping our brother from talking about women's issues. Telling them that you are a male and making it sound worst, again and again, is a sign that you are making it hard for him to speak what he has to say.

Had you been a woman then...

Never ever pick this line for your brother who has always shown you respect and love toward you. Just because some guy treated you malignly, it does not mean that you spill the rest over your brother. Think about his naiveness, he'd feel guilty for not being able to understand your situation.

These are something that we often normalize while talking to men or brothers without even thinking that how would they feel. Anger is common and many women are having this in their heads for 24 hrs but there are also some men including your brother who are constantly trying to bring change and we should appreciate this by not saying these.
